88.1 The Promise $100,000 minimum
monthly budget breakdown

-
This is the monthly payment
to use the frequency of 88.1 FM. Without this payment, 88.1 The
Promise would not be on the air in Northeast Florida. This is a
permanent part of our monthly budget and will increase in small percentages
through the years. This payment is made to River Educational Media
Inc. based out of North Carolina who purchased the frequency here in
Jacksonville. The Promise Educational Media Inc. has a (LMA)
Lease Management Agreement with them so we can continue the ministry of 88.1

Answering Your Questions
Why do we ask for money on the
radio? Answer: 88.1 The Promise
is required by law with the US Government to raise the money needed to operate
by asking our listeners to give the money needed. We are what the
government calls a listener supported radio station. Almost 100% of the
money needed to operate comes from people like you. 100% of the money
donated to us goes directly to the above operational expenses. We are
governed by the Federal Communications Commission and must follow their strict
guidelines. Share-A-Thon will always be a permanent part of 88.1 and
because of your support, we can continue to reach out to Northeast Florida!
How much money does it take to
run other Christian radio stations in America?
Answer: We are very happy to operate this radio station at a very
small budget. We need $100,000 per month to operate. Other great
Christian radio stations have a much higher budget than we do. A wonderful
station in Orlando needs almost $300,000 a month to operate....and a station in
Houston needs almost $500,000 per month.
Who is 88.1 The Promise?
Answer: We are The Promise Educational Media Inc. To put
plainly...we are a homegrown ministry with our President, Calvin Grabau and a
local board of directors. Calvin has been with 88.1 since 1984. Our
mission is the reach Northeast Florida with the power of the Gospel through
Christian music working hand in hand with the local church and our listeners.
Please be assured that in these days of big media conglomerates, all your
dollars are invested in reaching your community for Christ and not being
siphoned off to an operation in Toledo. Furthermore, we are an independent
organization that does not have any ties to any one church, denomination or
other organization.
